Job Description
My client is a trusted HVAC supplier, wholesale distributor, and manufacturer representative with over 40 years of experience supporting mechanical and sheet metal contractors, consulting engineers, and manufacturing partners across Western Canada. Known for delivering best-in-class service through responsive logistics, strong technical support, and practical project expertise—supporting customers from bidding and specification through order execution and delivery.
As an Estimator, you will bid all types of projects, from multi-residential, commercial, industrial to institutional. Education: Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma, HVAC or Sheet Metal Ticket, or equivalent industry experience
Responsibilities:
- Review and manage incoming bids
- Complete Take-Offs using Bluebeam software or similar
- Continuously review the bid board and be aware of bids closing dates
- Identify specialty products ahead of time that may require additional time for pricing
- Review all addendums that are associated with the project
- Clearly state what is included and not included on bids
- Support Salesperson/Project Manager by assisting in processing Change Orders and Site Instructions
- Take part in product training to stay updated.
- Communicate with sales team to maintain market awareness
- Build sustainable customer relationships
- Assist in all customer events as required.
- Perform other duties assigned by your manager
Requirements:
- Minimum 2+ years of estimating experience in HVAC, sheet metal, or mechanical construction
- Ability to read Architectural and Mechanical drawings
- Know how to compile bid packages for Sheet Metal Contractors and Mechanical Contractors
- Working knowledge of sheet metal design and HVAC systems
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam or similar tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management abilities
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Comfortable working under pressure and resolving conflicts professionally
- Adaptable, flexible, and collaborative approach to work
