Job Description
As an Associate with this well-established Building Services design firm, you will step into a high-level, client-facing leadership role where you’ll drive business development and lead a dedicated design team. Education:
Engineering Degree or Diploma in Mechanical building services or similar
Business Development
- Lead and support business development efforts for the Vancouver office and mechanical team.
- Develop and maintain client relationships with owners, architects, developers, contractors, and institutional stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
- Contribute directly to annual revenue generation, with a target minimum of $500,000 per year in secured work.
- Support proposal strategy, interview preparation, and pursuit planning.
Client Management
- Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients.
- Build long-term client relationships based on responsiveness, technical confidence, and service delivery.
- Understand client needs and align project execution with expectations, budget, and schedule.
- Help resolve client issues proactively and professionally.
Design Team Management
- Lead and coordinate internal and external design teams through all phases of project delivery.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, and specialty consultants.
- Provide leadership to project teams to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery.
- Support and mentor intermediate and junior staff.
Project Management
- Manage projects from pursuit through closeout.
- Oversee scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and deliverables.
- Monitor project financial performance and support profitability goals.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with company standards, client expectations, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Lead meetings, manage communication flow, and support contract administration as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or ability to obtain registration promptly.
- Demonstrated success in client development and project delivery.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary building projects.
- Strong understanding of building mechanical systems and consulting practice.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship management skills.
Assets
- Experience in healthcare, institutional, education, civic, commercial, or complex public-sector projects.
- Established network in the British Columbia market.
- Experience mentoring staff and contributing to team growth.
- Familiarity with fee planning, forecasting, and project financial controls.
