Senior Structural Engineer and Sustainability Lead – (Buildings)


Education: Structural Engineering degree; Masters is an asset


Responsibilities:


• Lead & manage med. to large-sized buildings and specialty structural projects
• Oversee project team, including junior and intermediate engineers, drafters, etc.;
• Manage project financial health and monthly billing
• Run sustainability initiatives such as carbon calculators, working with innovative sustainable methods of project delivery, presentations, putting proposals together with a big component about sustainability etc.
• Perform detailed structural design, including preparation of calculations, computer modeling, and analysis,
• Participate in and lead client meetings, facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates;
• Conduct a review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings;
• Be involved in ongoing communication and coordination with contractors, other consultants, and suppliers;
• Contribute to the team’s technical knowledge resources and mentor junior structural engineers;
• Be creative and innovative in problem-solving;
• Be driven to excel and outperform while not taking yourself too seriously and contributing to a fun, passionate and welcoming work environment.


Requirements:


• 6+ years of local experience designing buildings and speciality structures within the residential, commercial, municipal and institutional sectors. Along with some sustainable experience/exposure.
• A registered PEng or can attain your PEng within 6 months
• Strong track record in leading/delivering projects in steel and concrete. Timber is an asset
• Working knowledge & ability to use programs such as RFEM, S-Concrete, Tedds, MathCAD, other structural analysis software, other programs such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Word & Excel;
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Experience with architecturally expressive structures or light & heavy wood frame is an asset
• PE, SE is an asset
